Our Book Club Meetings

At the heart of the Friendship Library are our bi-weekly book club meetings. Safe, joyful spaces where children come together to read, connect, and grow. Every other Saturday, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., an average of 40 children walk through our doors, each placed in a group that matches their reading level. Guided by trained and caring volunteers, they explore age-appropriate books, build comprehension, and, perhaps most importantly, develop the confidence to call themselves readers.

We believe that distance should never be a barrier to learning. For children who live far from the library, we provide transportation, ensuring that every child who wants to read has the opportunity to do so, regardless of where they call home.

We also believe every child learns differently. That’s why our sessions go beyond the pages of a book, weaving in games, group discussions, and digital activities to keep children curious, engaged, and genuinely excited to come back. And they do. Week after week, our meetings are filled with energy, laughter, and a love for stories that is wonderful to witness.

As our flagship programme, our book club meetings are growing. Reaching more children each season and deepening our impact with every gathering.
